New US tariffs on UK imports: What you need to know

The US has announced that it will impose an additional 10% tariff on top of existing US duties, fees and taxes on imports from the UK. This came into effect on 5 April at 00:01 EST.

These additional tariffs do not apply to US imports of:

  • steel and aluminium articles and automobiles/automobile parts, which are subject to separate additional 25% tariffs
  • copper, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and lumber
  • energy, energy products and other minerals not available in the US
